THE CAPTAINS GOLF COURSE
18 HOLE WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION
Tuesday Play Information
From April through mid-November, the association utilizes block time on Tuesday mornings for league play. Arrive 20 minutes before your tee time!!!!. If you need to cancel before day of play, call the monthly tournament coordinator. If you are unable to play that morning, call the course (508-896-1716 x102). Failure to notify anyone about cancellation will result in a suspension for play the following week. Emergencies are considered.
Players wishing to play, sign up no later than noon on Friday the week before. You can either sign up on the day of play the week before or simply reply to an email sent to all each week asking if you want to play. If you are out of town, email requests are accepted until 6 pm on Friday at: 18-holewomensassociation@comcast.net. Tee times are emailed to you if you are registered with the Pro Shop with your email address, and are also posted on the bulletin board. They are also available on the phone-in reservation system usually by Sunday afternoon. On the day of play, $3 is collected by the assigned Captain of each foursome for the prize pool for the day. There is also a voluntary chip-in pool of $ .25 per player, with proceeds distributed between anyone participating that gets a chip-in that day.
If you are assigned captain for the day, you are responsible for collecting the money from the other members of your team, keeping a scorecard and posting the scores of all your teammates - NO EXCEPTIONS! Also ask someone else to keep a second score card so they can sign/attest the offical card to be turned in with the money at the end of the game. Handicaps for the team members will be provided by the tournament coordinators, but you may have to stroke the cards. In team play, you often will play to either 95% or 90% of your course handicap, depending on the game of the day (USGA recommendations).
Each group should make every effort to speed up play to make golf more enjoyable for all. Make sure you are within a shot of the group in front of you at all times. If you are out of the hole, pick up and move on --- team mates should encourage others to do so to speed up play!!! The team Captains should also record the finishing time on the scorecard after completing the 18th hole.
In case of inclement weather or course closure, the tournament coordinators may cancel play. When possible, assigned captains will be called and asked to call the other members of their group. If you have to cancel play for yourself, you are asked to call the tournament coordinator, or if on the morning of play, the pro shop to let them know you are not coming. If you don't show up and don't call anyone, you may be suspended from Tuesday play the following week.
