THE CAPTAINS GOLF COURSE
18 HOLE WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION
Solheim Cup
The Solheim Cup tournament was initiated by the Chequessett Golf Club in 2006.   The tournament is played at Chequessett in even numbered years, and at Captains in odd numbered years.

Each club fields a team of 20 players.  Players play as two-person teams in a format that changes every six holes.   Each foursome is competing for 3 points for the 18 holes, with each format worth 1 point for the winning team.  Ties earn 1/2 point.

The first six holes is played as better ball of the partners (or four-ball).  The second six holes is played as a 2- person scramble.  The last six holes is played as alternate shot.  In alternate shot, you must decide in advance who is to tee off on the odd number holes, and who will drive on the even number holes, and alternate shots from there on in.  All play is net.

The winning team gets possession of the Solheim Cup trophy for the year.   After play, all competitors enjoy lunch and hopefully the new golf friendships that ensue from the event.

The 2008 winner of the Solheim Cup was Chequessett!  This is the first time they have won the tournament.  Thanks to all who participated.
