THE CAPTAINS GOLF COURSE
18-HOLE WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION
1. New in 2008, golfers will now be able to lift a ball for identification in a bunker or water hazard. Due to this change, there will now be a 2 stroke penalty for playing the wrong ball from these areas. In match play, the penalty is loss of hole. Previously there was no penalty for hitting a wrong ball from a hazard or bunker because you were not allowed to touch your ball to identify it. (Rules 12-2 and 15-3)
2. Also new is a reduction in the penalty for accidental deflection of a ball by a player, partner or either of their equipment (rule 19-2). The penalty for this is now only 1 stroke in BOTH stroke play and match play. Previously the penalty was 2 strokes in stroke play, and loss of hole in match play.
3. Finally, it is no longer a penalty to move the flagstick out of the path of the ball while someone else is putting to prevent them from hitting the flagstick.
